How To Keep Your Home Organized Between Cleanings

This is an all too common situation and many people are unsure of what they can do to keep their home organized between cleanings. They may believe it’s too hard to maintain the cleanliness, but in fact, there are certain things you can do to ensure your home stays organized.

Set Aside Time Each Day to Do Certain Chores

Usually, people have issues doing their chores around the home because they wait till the last minute and let everything build up. Then it becomes on big task that nobody wants to tackle. Instead of letting things build up, set tasks for each day and make time to do them. For instance, do a single load of laundry each day. While that is going, you can vacuum the home one day. You can dust and wipe down furniture the next. Clean the bathroom the next, etc. By doing this, you are making it so you are doing a little each day, instead of a lot one day. If there’s a lot to do, you tend to just leave the mess because you are already tired.

Plan Your Dinners Early

If you come home, feel like you don’t have time, and want to make dinner, you usually rush to a decision and can make a mess. By planning dinner early, you know what you’re going to use, what dishes you need, and can set plans to clean after your done. You will be able to stay organized, make your dinner, and keep the kitchen from piling up.

Clean Up Immediately

We don’t mean drop everything that you’re doing to clean, but if you cook dinner, clean once you’re done. If you are opening mail in the living room, make sure your papers are organized or thrown out. Don’t allow your dirty dishes or a big mess to sit there. If you clean immediately, you are doing something while you’re already active. If you take the time to sit down and rest before you proceed to clean, you may become too comfortable to want to do anything.

Make a Schedule

If you have trouble remembering what tasks need to be done on each day, you should consider making a schedule. Set reminders for yourself on what needs to be done, to put away laundry or dishes, and to make sure you are good to go the next day. You can even set a routine for before you go to bed such as brushing your teeth and cleaning the sink, picking out your clothes the night before so you avoid throwing unused clothes on the floor, and more. In the morning, you can make the bed. This keeps you and your home organized and in perfect condition for your next thorough cleaning.
